No, the Electoral College isn't going to make Hillary (or anyone other than Trump) President.

Look, I know Trump and his cronies are in fact a vile group. I know it’s damn worrisome, and for some downright terrifying. But I’ll say it right now, it doesn’t matter how many petitions that get sent, nor does it matter how many more votes Hillary ultimately ends up with, Trump is going to be the next President. The Electoral College isn’t going to switch sides.

I *know* it feels good to try. I know that because you feel powerless, helpless otherwise, that it helps. But..

1) He won the Electoral college. Yes, it’s a strange system, but it’s the system we have.

2) Trump blasting it in 2012 and now loving it in 2016 means nothing.

Look, my wife signed the petition. She’s slept maybe 2-3 hours a night for weeks now because she’s so upset and scared, and we personally are in an OK spot.  I can’t imagine what it must be like to have your child’s life, your life, your spouses life be tied to the ACA being there, and knowing every damn day the Republican party gets up there and publicly planning for the death of your loved one.

But he’s the President-Elect. Our voters didn’t turn out. I have my own theories why that is, and I’ll do a diary on that another time.

Look, every time I see that off yellow orange face and hear that man talk I want to hurl. Even more than W, I have a visceral reaction of unease when Trump talks. I had been so looking forward to never having to hear or see that man again. I get it.

But I’m also a logical person, this is a fool’s errand.

Fight everything Trump does. Every Democratic elected official needs to fight like hell. And when we lose, which we will sometimes, for once, please, have a simple COHERENT sound-bite worthy argument on why what Trump did was bad, and HAVE EVERYONE USE IT. (Pisses me off when we try to use facts and figures in an emotional argument.)

We have two years.. two years till midterms. Two years to fight like hell, two years to get our collective asses in gear and take back Governorships, State Legislatures. Why? Census comes.. redistricting comes. You want to win? Change the lay of the game! No, it’s not sexy, fun, or anything like that. But the better positioned we are there, the better we will be for future elections.
